Hi, I’m Dahlia — and this is the first post on the new Cozy Flavors blog.
I write cozy fantasy: gentle villages, slow magic, found family, and the kind of stakes that never threaten the things you love so much as ask you to be brave enough to keep them. My first series, The Last Dragon Chronicles, begins with From Hoards to Hearths — a three-hundred-year-old dragon who falls out of the sky, lands in a town called Briarwell, and slowly learns that a hoard doesn’t have to glitter. This blog is the room next to all of that: a slower place where I share what I’m reading, what I’m cooking while I draft, and the occasional behind-the-scenes look at the books.
Why “Cozy Flavors”
A friend asked me once how to describe what I write, and the best I could come up with was, “literary comfort food.” Every book is a different flavor of the same warmth — but they all sit on the same shelf in my head, with the same lighting and the same kettle on in the background. There are more worlds on the way, too: a village of magical roles going gently obsolete, a gaslit street full of unlicensed practitioners, and a sentient inn that can’t stop matchmaking. More on those soon.
What you’ll find here
A handful of things, mostly:
- Notes from the desk — what I’m drafting and why
- Cozy reading lists — books I’m recommending this season
- Kitchen pieces — recipes that show up in the books, or the ones I cooked while writing them
- Reader letters — sometimes I’ll reply to a particularly lovely note in public, with permission
Pull up a chair. The kettle’s on.
